About Lee

Born and raised in Queenstown meant being surrounded by beautiful vistas filled with stunning flora and fauna. Being taught about conservation and to appreciate the beauty in things naturally steered me towards wanting to capture it on paper. As my love for the natural world grew, so did my love for art which eventually bloomed into wanting to offer the ultimate form of art for people; tattoos.

Hey there! I’m Lee Gutzewitz and I’m based in one of the most stunning places in New Zealand. I have been tattooing for around 4 years, and prior to tattooing I had been a freelance artist for 8 years.

I have a diploma in Classical Animation (think Disney cartoons), and studied in small business management. I am a member of the QAS (Queenstown Art Society) and frequently have traditional art up for sale in galleries around the district.

If you were to ask, I’d say that my three main tattoo styles are Blackwork, Fineline and Neo Traditional.

However, I also love tattooing in other styles as well, including American Traditional (Trad), Illustrative, Sketchy, Watercolour, Cybercygillism, Mandala, Japanese, New School and certain Black and Grey styles.

I’m always eager for a chat if you are up for it! In my spare time I am a bee keeper, I help catalogue the archives at the Lakes District Museum, paint, practise pyrography, Rollerblade (poorly haha) and work on the family property. I am also a big plant enthusiast and passionate about being a more sustainable human being.

Lee is a beekeeper, shown here in protective gear inspecting a hive frame filled with bees outdoors on a sunny day. She enjoys being outside and have hobbies on her farm in Frankton when she is not tattooing.
