Precare information

  • Look after your Skin

Before getting tattooed it’s a good idea to look after your skin - especially if you don’t already! This can include a soft skin exfoliant (up to 24 hours before hand), and moisturiser.

It is harder to tattoo dry skin especially if it is flakey. Skin can sometimes collect in the needle and not produce as sharper lines, so looking after your skin pre-tattoo is always a bonus!

  • Rest easy

A good night sleep beforehand can go a long way. Make sure you get around eight hour sleep the night before. If you have any sleep tricks that help you sleep better (ie sleepy tea, a hot bath, soft music) this is the night to practise them. There is nothing worse than getting a medium to large tattoo while being tired and grumpy.

  • No drinking or drugs

It’s pretty straight forward - Do not have underpriced drugs or any alcohol the night before you get tattooed. This can affect your body (ie thins blood) and means either the I have to work harder (hurt you more) or you will need a touch up due to more bleeding.

Make sure your body has the least amount of things to recover from, rather than both a hangover and a tattoo.

  • Eat beforehand

I highly recommend eating 1-3 hours before your tattoo, especially if it is a medium to large tattoo. If you haven’t, I won’t tattoo you before you do, as this can be a contributing factor to fainting.

Bring your lunch, a snack and a water bottle, and sugary drinks are always a good idea especially for long sessions. You’d be surprised how good you feel like after a bit of food.

  • No prior skin damage

I will not tattoo on freshly damaged skin. This includes sunburn, bruising, cuts, scratches, acne, ingrown hairs or rashes.

This includes shaving rashes - please do not shave for the day unless we are tattooing your head.

  • Are you sick?

Make sure you are at peak healthy when getting tattooed. Please do not book a tattoo when you are sick, and do not come in if you have the flu, COVID or even an annoying cough.

We need your immune system to work at 100% to heal your new beautiful tattoo.

  • Smart planning

Don’t get a tattoo if you are planning on using a spa, sauna or go swimming in the next couple of weeks while your tattoo will be healing.

If you are travelling, make sure if you are getting a medium to large tattoo you have a few days before you travel back home.

  • Clothing

Make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the body part you are getting tattooed. We don’t want anything that is going to be tight and rubbing up against your new ink. Ie, wear jandals when getting a foot tattoo, wear shorts or baggy pants when getting a leg tattoo etc.

  • Bring what you’ll need

Feel free to bring a bag with food, water bottle, a warm top, music, a phone charger, headphones, and a blanket if you’d like! Don’t forget to bring payment on the day as well.
