What is Symbolism/Tribal/Folk style tattoos?

These are tattoos created with symbols, patterns and shapes. They are usually blackwork/Black and Grey but can also include colour.

‘Tribal’ in this instance refers to the popular 90’s western tribal designs only (and not traditional tribal tattoos), which has since evolved again into cybersigilism and more detailed versions.

Symbolism can be as simple as symbolic patterns representing meaning such as an infinity or heart design, as well as symbols that have religious or spiritual meaning.

Folk styles are usually connected to European roots, decorative symbols which represent beliefs, protection or signifying ancestral ties.

This can also encompass geometric tattoos.
